We were engaged by Ngāti Ranginui to establish event identities and promote the 160th Commemoration of the Tauranga Moana Land Wars. Our approach was to increase the awareness of the battles, Tauranga Moana history and commemoration events.
The Battle of Pukehinahina Commemoration event featured the unveiling of refurbished pou and the premiere of the “NZ Wars: Stories of Tauranga Moana” documentary. RNZ Senior Producer Justine Murray also launched a podcast sharing her personal connection to these stories through her ancestor Pāraone Koikoi.
We managed the promotion of both commemorations by coordinating PR and executing marketing tactics. This included developing event programs, organising a media wall, writing press releases, managing social media posts, launching a social media giveaway, and announcing the release of the documentary and podcast.
In collaboration with Tohu, we crafted branding, invitations, movie tickets, billboards, social media tiles, pins, lanyards, invites, landing pages, event programmes, and a media wall.
To increase awareness we developed a Tauranga Land Wars website entailing information about each battle, the commemoration event programmes, and a photo gallery.
